About Jern Eye

Back-to-basics MC and beat maker Jern Eye (born October 25, 1978) spent his childhood in East Los Angeles. Immersed in the city's underground scene, he participated in several rap battles and showcases, including L.A.'s famed Lotus, Foundation, Project Blowed and The Rootdown in the early '90s. In his senior year of High School he met fellow emcee Spear Of The Nation, and formed the eventual trio Lunar Heights after graduating in 1996. Because of their strong affinity for the independent Bay Area Hip-Hop scene, they decided to relocate north to Oakland, where he and Spear added third Lunar Heights member Khai Sharrieff in 2001. After the group released their debut project Crescent Moon in 2004 on NatAural High Records, Jern Eye followed it up shortly with his solo album Authentic Vintage in 2006, which received critical acclaim on Scratch, XLR8R, and Mass Appeal Magazine.

Authentic Vintage was almost entirely self produced along side his engineer Phil Jahns. During this time he toured with members of Hieroglyphics, Living Legends, Crown City Rockers, and The Pharcyde. With a new label deal on MYX Music, the Bay Area-based emcee resurfaced in 2009 offering The Eye Exam mixtape with DJ Icewater, an appetizer for his second full-length album Vision, boasting production from DJ Dahi, Illmind, Jake One, DJ Vinroc, DJ Swift Rock, and featured guests Guilty Simpson, Roc C, Planet Asia, Rasco, Mistah FAB, Zion I and Nightclubber Lang. Currently, Jern Eye is enjoying fatherhood, BMX racing, and producing new music for a collaboration project yet to be announced.
